The Boots

This summer I was flipping through the Nordstrom catalogue when I found something that I absolutely had to have. They were these beautiful brown Sam Edelman boots and from the moment I laid eyes on them, I knew they were basically made just for me. I dropped hints like mad to Cal (my birthday was coming up!).

The day of my birthday came along, and the family drove down to St. George to celebrate. Cal came down separately because of work, and as he was unpacking the car I saw a Nordstrom bag with a BIG box in it. I was SO excited to open it! On my birthday night I excitedly pulled the big box out of the Nordstrom bag and immediately realized the box said "Steve Madden", NOT "Sam Edelman". Bless Cal's heart... He had bought the boots just to the left of my beautiful boots that I had dreamed of. Cal immediately offered to replace his present for the gift I actually wanted, and of course I said that was fine :).

After arriving in SLC a couple of days later, Cal, my mom and I went to Norstrom only to find out that my beloved boots had SOLD OUT. Not that I could blame other women for scooping all of them up, but seriously, I was so sad. A salesman quickly offered to call me if anyone returned their boots... I told him that I would appreciate that as graciously as I could.

After about a week I got a call from Tim at Nordstrom... and they had my boots!! Cal and I went over that same night, and let me tell you, they fit perfectly (had they not I probably would have cried). After purchasing them I was as giddy as giddy could be... I vowed not to wear them until our engagement photos were taken (in like two+ months... it was a serious struggle not to wear them!).

Finally it came time to take our engagements and I got to wear my beautiful boots! Cal even asked our wonderful photographer to take a picture of our feet because these boots had been such a fiasco to find, buy and purchase :).

Yesterday Cal and I went to a movie and then out to sushi with some friends. It was such a great night, especially because I wore my boots! Even my cute girl friends at dinner noticed and complimented them; they're so sweet. The sushi was  SO good - and it was the first time Cal and I had ever had sushi together! I love that even after dating for so long we still have so many firsts.

Long story short, I love everything about my beautiful boots... From the buttons and their detail, to the coloring, the soles and the angle of the toe. It's comparable to the fact that I just simply love everything about Cal. His constant reassurance, his hugs, his cute texts and phone calls, his determination... etc. I won't bore you with all of the qualities I love about it (clearly you know I love him if I'm marrying him). One of the biggest reasons I love my boots is the fact that Cal bought them for me. He's a keeper -- and I plan on keeping him forever :).
