Kellogg's

For almost two decades, Kellogg's business decisions pretty much ruled my family's life. It moved us all around the world, provided us with maids and drivers, and taught me just how privileged my life really was. (My advisor joked the other day that I have a silver spoon in my mouth. The truth is - I kind of do.)

While my dad was working for the company, he had a lot of incredible accomplishments. He made the company millions of dollars whilst becoming a loved (by most) boss. The "approachable, likeable giant" made quite the difference at Kellogg.

Growing up as a Kellogg Kid, my brothers and I had the opportunity to try many, many cereals before they went to market. They always came home from the office with my dad in plain white boxes. We anxiously poured these nameless boxes of cereal into bowls when my dad walked through the door around 8 or 9pm at night. We'd then eat to our heart's content and provide our opinions.

One of our favorite white boxes that came home was filled with the most delicious cereal. It tasted good with and without milk. It was one of those foods that could be eaten at any time of the day, and it was definitely something that you did not want to share. We loved it too much to even share it with each other. We each had our own box with our name on it, it was that intense.

A few months later, after my dad named the cereal, Krave was released. Oh, my, YUM.

When my dad retired and the family left the UK, they brought at least 20 boxes of Krave to SLC. CBF & I hid a box in our kitchen so that no one would see or ask for it. (I finished it one night after a late night of studying, I was in it deeeeeep with CBF.)

Two weeks ago, I opened up the pantry and beheld Krave. AHHHH! It's been released in the US! I ate 1/4 of the box for supper. And then ate more as a snack that night. Yum, yum, yum.

I invite you to go purchase a box of Krave (currently available at Smith's and Wal-Mart). I promise, you will not regret it! (And when you eat it, you can think of my father!)

A picture of my father and me in Rome, Italy. He even looks like a pretty approachable giant, eh?

(Love you, Daddy-o. Super proud of you.)

  1. Though I am opposed supporting anything that is spelled with a "k" when it should be spelled with a "c"... I will try this cereal. It sounds yummy!

  3. Last time you recommended a cereal (Crunchy Nut) I totally loved it. And chocolate hazelnut? It sounds just like those Pirouline cookies I love and bought today. I'm game. Thanks Liz!

  5. so when this first came to the UK, Michelle and Chris Skinner were visiting me and we went on a HUNT for the cereal after we saw the TV ad for it. The cereal is delicious and was SO happy to see it comes to NY. Now they just need to throw the hazelnut back in there :)

Love that your Dad was the concept guy for this!
