The New (Scary) Neighbor

So far, we love living up Emigration canyon. It's beautiful, above the inversion, and it's nice and secluded (we choose not to say isolated -- it has negative connotations).

The other day the whole family climbed into the truck to go look at some new furniture. On our way home, my dad decided to go up this road on the North side of Emigration Canyon Road. The road has recently been paved and has had a retaining wall put up. A guardhouse/gate is also being built in, and on the front of it hangs a sign saying "Real Estate Development".

My dad decided he wanted to be a "prospective" buyer for the day, so up the hill we went in the car.

And we kept going up.

And up.

It had to have been at least 4 miles at a 15% grade by the time it started to plateau. But there weren't any homes being built...

There was an aluminum shed to the right, packed full of ATVs, fake deer to practice shooting at, and a ton of other odd things. As we kept going, we saw a wood shed with a metal fence around it. Inside were at least 5 angry dogs, who immediately started barking. Off to the left was a new trailer, with a Toyota Sequoia next to it.

By this time we had already decided it was time to go back. As my dad was turning around the truck, we saw the trailer door open and someone dart out to the car.

We were driving down the long road when the white Sequoia came plowing around the corner and began pulling up uncomfortably close. The window then rolled down and out of the window came a red faced, crazy haired woman who was screaming at the top of her lungs. Ummm... yeah. She was scary.

My dad calmly explained that we had come up the road because of the sign about real estate development. She calmed down -- slightly. She yelled that it was private property and to leave immediately.

We obliged. We're not too sure what's going on up that lane, but I'm pretty sure it's scary.

The "Real Estate Development" sign is now gone, and has been replaced with a thick metal chair across the road, with a sign that reads, "Private Property". Pretty sure they should add, "Killer Dogs and Owner" to it....
