First Christmas

This is our first Christmas away from home. We will be spending this Christmas in Illinois (I have to work, as I am the low man on the totem pole). Although we will miss our family dearly, we are excited to have our first Christmas together as a little family. Just the three of us!

Our Christmas tree is up and I am frantically attempting to make a tree skirt before Christmas day is here. Dang Pinterest and convincing me something would be "easy". I should have known better, as I am "book smart" not "craft smart".

Here are some photos of us putting up the tree. We must be grown ups if we own our own tree!

Putting on our first ornament.

White lights.

Whitter watching TV with us with tree lit.

***Funny story about the tree: We went to Home Depot the Saturday after Thanksgiving because I had found a tree I wanted for $90. In the shopping cart was a Black Friday ad for a 7.5 ft. Martha Stewart tree, originally $200 up specially on sale for $59. I asked the sales clerk if they had any left with my fingers crossed. The sales clerk behind him scoffed and said those had sold out an hour after the doors opening on Black Friday. Sales clerk 1 scanned the SKU and lo and behold, someone had JUST returned a tree! Sales clerk 2's jaw dropped. Sales clerk 1 took us to the tree and helped us put it in the shopping cart. Boom! $59 on a tree that has a switch to make the lights go from colored to white. Super fancy, and we're feeling super lucky.

    A) So excited for your first intimate Christmas. It is surprisingly comforting and less crazy.
    B) BEST TREE STORY EVER!!!! Minus the Martha Stewart part, just because I'm not a fan. Yes, let the stoning begin.
    C) You look gorgeous as always! Hope all is well out there and hope to see you in Utah soon!
