What do therapists (speech, occupational, & physical), CNAs, & psychiatric patients all have in common? Well, at the hospital I'm now interning at, we all wear navy blue scrubs.
Sweeeeeet.
But seriously, I begin on Sunday and I'm super excited/nervous.
Reasons why I'm looking forward to the new internship:
-I only work four days a week
-I don't have to stand in my closet for at least 5 minutes every morning trying to figure out what to wear
-It is seriously close to my house
-I get to learn more about swallowing
-I have school friends at the site too, as well as Courtney (best pharmacy friend) and Jordan (best friend I talked about here)
-I have to wear my hair in a pony tail... Yessss to not having to do hair in the morning!
Reasons why I'm not looking forward to the new internship:
-I have to be at work by 7am (I'm productive in the morning, but not very friendly/social)
-I work Sunday - Wednesday... aka no more Sundays with CBF
-I wear athletic shoes to work... Love my Ascis, but am seriously considering buying some of these... Thoughts? Opinions?
-Stretchy pants to work every day = not realizing when fitted pants get tight (note to self: do not let this happen)
-Swallowing assessment/treatment is really the only place SLPs can seriously harm/kill our patients... Hence the excited/nervous feeling!
Here's to hoping Sunday goes smoothly and doesn't result in my new clinical instructor thinking I'm a tool!

You will do great! You get swallowing probably better than any of us so I'm sure you will be fine! :) PS...I miss you!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Wish I worked there too and then we could all see each other :) And I fully support the Dansko shoes...they aren't the most fashionable but are super comfy! Chat soon!!
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you to start this internship. You'll do fantastic! I don't remember which "site" you said you'll be at. VA or the U? If it's the U, we need to talk because I know 2 nurses in the pyschiatric unit... you'll probably see them lots! Anyway, super excited for you. Big changes coming your way!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! You'll do awesome. There is actually something wonderful about wearing a uniform because then you don't have to worry about what to wear to work. I personally love wearing scrubs to work. I LOVE Dansko's and wear them even though they are not fashionable because they are so freaking comfortable and who wants to tie shoes? If you want to buy some clogs figure out what size you want at a store like Nordstrom or REI and then order them from this website www.clogoutlet.com you can get them for a reduced priced sometimes up to half-off. Order the one's that say they are factory-seconds - really there are no flaws that I have ever been able to find and I've ordered four pairs from the website - they are changing the name from Dansko to Sanita but it's the same awesome clog. And yes - you must put on regular clothes every day after clinical or else you forget easily what your waistline should be. Love you lots! Matt and Sam are cheering for you too!
ReplyDeleteDiana - Thank you!! I've just been to the website and it's so great. I will let you know if I buy any. Love you and your whole cute family!
