It Started Out With a Kiss How Did End Up Like This

So 2010 is about over and Fry Sauce is going to walk us all through the year that was 2010. I titled this post after the song ‘Mr. Brightside’ from The Killers because this was the first year that Liz and I spent New Year’s Eve together. Hence “it started off with a kiss.”

(December 31, 2009 -- We knew 2010 was going to be great.)

After the new year rang in we had three months until the big day in April. It is hard to think back on highlights during January so let’s pretend that month didn’t happen- I blame the inversion for this. February 9th was a good night though, Liz and I saw Jack's Mannequin that night. The significance of this band is two years earlier Liz and I had our first “public kiss” at Red Fest while watching Jack’s. Not only was the show amazing, but it was obviously a highlight in 2010.

March really seems fuzzy. I remember my highlights but not necessarily “couple highlights”. In March we both had our respectable bachelor and bachelorette parties, both on the same night. Mine involved going out to the New Yorker, Gracies, The Beerhive, and ending the evening playing ping pong at my brother’s house. Liz went out with her friends- again details fuzzy. The next day though we woke up to take our groomals where I got to see my bride in her dress for the first time and I really knew I was ready to hang up the bachelor jersey and never look back.

(Liz's dress.)

(I love her.)

April came, we know by long post that Liz and I were married 4-8-10. Do I add anything else? Meh I guess I can leave it at that. Did I mention that we saw Phantom of the Opera while we were in Vegas, anyway good times.

(Our favorite day ever.)

May arrived and much to my surprise there were vacation days. Over memorial day Liz and I took a four day break to go down to St. George. It was filled with R & R and me schooling my wife in a game of H-O-R-S-E.
Summer I am clustering together. Highlights involve 4-wheeling and mountain biking in St. George, hanging out around the fire pit with friends, both art festivals (SLC and Park City), jogging in the rain with my wife, and just long summer nights in general.

(Us at at Bee's game in the summer.)

(We might look like drowned rats, but Liz insisted on taking the photo. She LOVES running in the rain.)

September brought us school and college football. The opening game against Pitt has to be the highlight. Warm night under the bright lights and the game ended in overtime. Wow two sentences for September, for this I blame my use of Twitter.

(GO UTES!)

In October Liz and I went on our European adventure. We were able to celebrate our six month anniversary and my birthday both overseas. We have talked about the trip in previous posts, but doing things like going to see the Book of Kells on my birthday with my wife in Dublin has to rank on the all time great times in my life.

(Us on the airplane.)

November ended with a fun road trip to Vegas and back in under 48 hours. We left Thanksgiving dinner and arrived in Las Vegas at 9:30. Our time there was spent with Liz’s best friend Alex and her family. It was a great time and visit. Highlights are going to Mona Mi Gabi at the Paris Hotel, going to the creepy and non luxury outlets, and the drive to St. George Friday night that started at 12:30 at night. The next day we woke up at seven to drive so SLC for the Holy War game. Sleep deprived and hoarse from yelling our beloved Utes blocked the game winning field goal. After we rushed the field and took photos (Liz blogged about this in the post below).

(Liz and her best friend, Alex.)

December brought us our first Christmas together. The top gift that I received was a Wimbledon towel for 2011 with my initials on it. I also played some serious basketball with Liz's family and later that night we found Dr. J's house. SO cool.

(My awesome towel - compliments of Liz's family connections in the UK)

(This game got serious. We (Greg and myself) dominated.)

(Dr. J's foreclosed house in St. George is in the same gated community as Liz's family's. We went and checked it out.)

The month and year end just a week ago. We have high hopes for 2011, but in all honesty, 2010 is going to be hard to beat!
